Union Public Service Commission Central Armed Police Forces is now hiring for Assistant commandant posts with total of 506 vacancies. These vacancies are distributed among 5 different paramilitary forces that are: Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Eligibility Criteria:
Before applying for this exam, candidates must know the eligibility criteria. Eligibility criteria mainly the requirements that need to be met in order to qualify for something. Here are the eligibility details about UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant Exam 2024:
Nationality:
- You must be a citizen of India.
- Additionally, citizens of Bhutan or Nepal, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1962, or Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) from specific countries can also apply https://www.pw.live/exams/defence/upsc-capf-eligibility/.
Educational Qualification:
- You must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline.
- Candidates awaiting results can apply provisionally.
Age Limit:
- The minimum age limit is 20 years and the maximum is 25 years as of August 1, 2024.
- There’s an age relaxation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) by 3 years and for Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) by 5 years.
Physical Standards:
- There are specific height and chest requirements (for men only) along with minimum weight limits. You can find the details in the official notification once released by UPSC.
Selection Process
- Written Examination: The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service
Commission will be held on 04th August, 2024 and will comprise two papers. Paper I will be held
from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon and Paper II will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests: Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination will be summoned for Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet the prescribed Physical Standards as specified in Appendix-VI, will be put through the Physical Efficiency Tests.
- Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission. Candidates who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on their appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests provisionally. The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 Marks.
- Final Selection / Merit: The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
Salary Details
The UPSC CAPF Assistant Commandant’s salary starts at ₹56,100 per month during training and increases with promotions and experience. It can reach up to ₹2,25,000 along with various allowances like dearness allowance and house rent allowance, making the total compensation quite attractive.
How To Apply For UPSC CAPF Exam?
Candidates are required to apply Online using the link https://www.upsconline.nic.in. It is essential for the applicant to register himself/herself first at One Time Registration (OTR) platform, available on the Commission’s website, and then proceed for filling up the online application for the examination. OTR has to be registered only once in life time. This can be done anytime throughout the year. If the candidate is already registered, he/she can proceed straightway for filling up the online application for the examination.
Note: The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of examination for which they are admitted by the Commission viz. Written Examination, Physical and Medical Standards Tests and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Interview/Personality Test will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If on verification at any time before or after the Written Examination, Physical and Medical Standards Tests, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Interview/ Personality Test, it is found that they do not fulfill any of the eligibility conditions, their candidature for the examination will be cancelled by the Commission.
